Well, August is here and with that comes Teacher Treat Tuesday_August Distance Learning. Many of us will be experiencing a new normal – whatever that might be. I asked on my Facebook page and the responses I got were wide and varied. Although much of what will happen, going forward, will depend on where you live. Some teachers won’t be going back to the classroom for a few months yet and could be teaching online for up to 8 weeks.
One positive is that teachers have had this experience already, albeit with little time to prepare properly. Districts are proposing a range of methods – 2 days classroom, 3 days online, teaching online only, some groups on some days and the rest on other days. In many scenarios, I just can’t imagine how students can have a rich, educational experience with social distancing restrictions. It’s so hard for teachers to plan for students they have never met before, as well as coping with a new teaching environment. Hopefully this post will go some way towards helping educators everywhere, gather much-needed materials for what lies ahead.
