I spent a week during the summer vacation excitedly getting my classroom ready with my new Safari Room Theme. This is absolutely my most favorite time of year – getting to know new students and helping them find their way in my classroom. I tend to be a bit over-organized, but love encouraging free movement and watching students become more independent as their confidence grows. I want them to always know what happens next and what they should be doing at all times. I want them to feel secure, happy, engaged and ready to learn!
On top of that the ceiling is vaulted, so I can’t hang anything and I’m not allowed to put anything on the walls. I have 3 bulletin boards and 2 walls of windows – all very limiting! Of course I chose a safari theme – coordinates very well with primary colors – haha! After an interesting discussion about themes on facebook, I decided to commit 100% and have had loads of fun setting it all up – printing, cutting, laminating, cutting, blisters – I’m sure this is familiar!

I created a Safari themed behavior clip chart for my classroom. (It is not included in the Safari Room Theme resource). However, you can grab it for free by clicking the image below.

Aw, thanks so much Dee! The colors are a bit 'in your face' and the space is limited with 30 kids, but I've made a start and am happy with it so far!
Teachers Toolkit says
Thanks so much Michelle! I definitely feel ready to hit the ground running! There's nothing worse than having to tackle your room, when the kids are in. A lot of my colleagues do it that way. Too stressful for me, I have to have it ready to go!

I love it! 🙂
Teachers Toolkit says
Aw, thank you, Martha – you are too kind! 🙂

Love the Born to be Wild window. What an awesome room for your kiddos.

Wow! It looks great, I especially love the palm trees, yes that ceiling is quite useless isn't it, I have one in my room as well, impossible to hang anything!

I love the bright colors in your room – it's so cheerful! I (currently, but maybe someday) do not have a blog, but I am adding you to my "follow" list. I teach 1st grade in the beautiful state of Washington. I dream of coming to Ireland someday, where a large part of my family tree originated. Have a great year with your kiddos!

Aww! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment! I can't wait to see their little faces when they come through the door! 🙂
Teachers Toolkit says
The tree on the door looks a bit awkward because I had to try and cover a set of coat hooks – lol! Yep – pretty rubbish ceiling – haha! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Teachers Toolkit says
Thank you! If I could double the space or half the amount of students, it would be perfect – lol!
Teachers Toolkit says
Aww – you are sweet! My hubs cut a piece of wood to act as the trunk (I painted it!) which means the charts are away from the door to give room for the clothespins. The cutie clothespins arrived today, so I will be adding more pics soon – lol! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Teachers Toolkit says
Aww, Kim – you would love it here – apart from the rain maybe – lol! I hope you get a blog up and running soon – it really is good fun and a great way to meet people! Thanks so much for following – I'll be sure to look out for you! 🙂
