As the days get shorter and the nights get cooler, it’s easy to tell that Autumn is on the way. There is so much to enjoy about Fall but your students may still be missing summer. Fall writing prompts and journaling is a great way to remind them of all the fantastic things Fall offers! You might also be interested in reading this earlier blog post.
Fall writing prompts and journaling ideas
Including journaling in students’ daily routines may encourage them to keep up the practice as they get older. And the journals themselves can be as simple or decorated as you like. You can simply fold some plain paper in half and staple the sheets together in the middle. Add some cardstock or construction paper on the outside and now you have a cover for your journals. Provide items such as stickers, markers, glue, glitter, etc, and let them decorate their journals.
Making a series of smaller journals will make their writing less overwhelming. Your students can make separate journals for each unit of study or topic that you cover. Or make a journal for each season and really dive into learning about that season. They can embellish their journal entries with drawings, or let a drawing be the actual prompt.
