Fall is such a great time of year! On top of the beautiful foliage and crisp, cool weather, there are some very fun holidays too. All the excitement can sometimes make it hard for little ones to stay focused, so why not kill two birds with one stone and try some easy Halloween activities to have fun and learn at the same time!
Try these fun and easy halloween activities
- If you’re looking for a way to add a little bit of science into your day, try making these Ghouly Hands. This activity is a twist on the ever-popular “erupting volcano” that kids love so much. All you need are some rubber gloves (lightweight ones work best), wide-mouth glass jars, white vinegar and baking soda.
With some white vinegar already in the jars, add some baking soda to the gloves. Shake them so the baking soda goes down into the fingertips. Slide the gloves over the mouth of the jar. Then when you’re ready, shake the gloves so the baking soda empties into the vinegar. Voila! The chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda cause the gloves to seem to come to life, expanding and then wiggling the fingers. It’s a fun way to add some science to your Halloween activities. Click here for a free download of instructions.
- Would you like your kids to decorate small pumpkins but are worried about them using sharp tools? This No Carve Pumpkin Decorating Craft is for you!
All you need are small pumpkins, some tissue paper confetti, mod podge, and a small paintbrush or sponge applicator. Use bright colors or stick with a traditional fall and Halloween motif. Find instructions on the Mod Podge website.
- This Halloween Mummy Cans Craftivity is simple to make. The best part is that your students will have pencil cans for their desks, or you can fill them with candy and Halloween treats. You’ll need empty soup cans with the labels cleaned off, black construction paper, 2 googly eyes for each can, some glue and rolls of gauze.
These are fun! Click here for detailed instructions.
